DONATE AN ITEM TO THE COLLECTION

The Missouri Civil War Museum is actively seeking the following items for its future museum and educational galleries.

Authentic Civil War Era Artifacts (both civilian & military)
Items to Include: Clothing, Photographs, Uniforms, Military-Style Weapons & Equipment, Veterans Medals, Reunion Medallions & Ribbons.

Reproduction & Non-Authentic Civil War Era Items (both civilian & military)
Items to Include: New & Used Re-enactor's Clothing, Uniforms, Weapons & Equipment.

Photographs of Ancestors (Missouri Soldiers, Sailors, and Prominent Civilians) or a soldier's story of the Civil War
The Missouri Civil War Museum maintains a large research database of Missouri Civil War veterans.  This database contains photographs, letters, pension records, military records, and other items and documents that pertain to each of these soldiers.  To help expand this ever growing record system, we are looking for original or copies of photographs of Missouri soldiers and prominent Missouri civilians of the Civil War.  Some of these photos will also be utilized in the many exhibit displays at the museum.

Items of any Era that relate to the Jefferson Barracks Military Post
The Missouri Civil War Museum will have several museum galleries dedicated to the history of Jefferson Barracks. We are interested in obtaining artifacts and items that relate to the Jefferson Barracks site regardless of their era. From the Mexican War to the present-day soldiers who are stationed at Jefferson Barracks, we are looking for old uniforms, equipment, and other memorabilia to complete our Jefferson Barracks history galleries.

Mennerich family members Carl Fehr, of Virginia, and Jeri Mennerich Swan, of Missouri, present museum officials
with the 48-star burial flag of their great grandfather, Private William Mennerich of the 4th Missouri Cavalry.

DONATE AN ORIGINAL OR REPRODUCTION ITEM TO A GREAT CAUSE TODAY!

The Missouri Civil War Museum is being specifically designed to become a "complete and well-rounded" Civil War museum, library, and educational facility. Unlike most "museums," the Missouri Civil War Museum will place most of its emphasis on educating the public about the American Civil War, instead of being a place to simply "showcase" thousands of original and authentic artifacts. The galleries within our facility are being designed to showcase a combination of authentic and reproduction items in an attempt to successfully promote and enhance that particular gallery theme and educational subject. The Missouri Civil War Museum's primary mission and goal is to promote and preserve Missouri's Civil War history and heritage, while at the same time educating and helping the public understand the true and complete story of Missouri's role in the American Civil War. In order to complete this mission, we will need to obtain the necessary combination of original and reproduced items to fill the galleries to tell Missouri’s story.

Therefore, we are asking anyone that has original or reproduction items that relates to the American Civil War to seriously consider donating the item(s) to our collection. This is where Civil War re-enactors and sutlers can make a tremendous contribution. We are asking these Civil War enthusiasts to consider donating to the Missouri Civil War Museum any obsolete, extra, unused or overstocked uniform, weapon, or equipment items that they may have. What a great way to help perpetuate the memory of our Civil War ancestors by contributing some of your own items to be permanently placed in our facility.

Your donated gear will become part of an exhibit for tens of thousands of visitors to observe and learn from. This is a great opportunity to put your gear and weapons to a great cause and help preserve our Civil War history by actually becoming part of it by exhibiting your items.

Your donated items will also help you in regards to tax benefits since your contribution is fully tax-deductible to fullest extent allowed by law, due to the Missouri Civil War Museum's status as a not-for-profit charitable organization. Remember, a child does not need to see a true original Henry Rifle to understand its historical significance and awesome firing power. A modern-day reproduction Henry Rifle can "tell the story" itself on behalf of its original ancestor. A visitor does not need to gaze upon an original shell jacket of a Union soldier to understand and learn about the warrior's uniform and clothing when an accurately reproduced jacket will do. The list goes on and on and you can help by making a contribution today. The greatest form of affection and homage you can pay on behalf of our brave and noble Missouri Civil War ancestors is by making a contribution that will be permanently on display educating future generations all about their sacrifices.
